About Us

Dr. Wayne Browning

Picture
Dr. Wayne Browning is a Washington State native and a 1986 graduate of Washington State University. Dr. Browning's life-long passion for equine veterinary medicine began at an early age when one of his family's racehorses suffered a suspensory ligament injury. Prior to receiving his degree, Dr. Browning worked as both a groom and veterinary assistant at Longacres Racetrack near Seattle, Washington. Following graduation, Dr. Browning continued to work at San Francisco Bay area race tracks until 1989, when he became a partner in Briarwood Equine, Inc. in Portola Valley. He then started Bayhill Equine in 1991.

Bayhill Equine is a 3-doctor, fully ambulatory practice serving the San Francisco Peninsula. His practice is limited solely to sports medicine and rehabilitation, primarily in sport and pleasure horses. The focus of the practice includes pre-purchase exams, lameness, radiography, and ultrasound.

Several years ago, Dr. Browning recognized in his veterinary practice a huge void in equine rehabilitation from the time of injury to successful return to work. He subsequently opened Equisport in 2007, a rehabilitation facility located in Woodside dedicated to state-of-the-art equine physical therapy treatments and technologies.

In addition to ministering to the needs of horses in the community, Dr. Browning serves on the Advisory Board of the Stanford Red Barn. He has also served as the Team Veterinarian for the New Zealand show jumping team at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky.

In his limited free time Dr. Browning enjoys breeding and raising race horses with his wife Anna at their farm in Lexington.
